Inverness is about 18 miles East of Crystal River on U.S. 19 and roughly the same distance West of the Wildwood exit on I-75.
If you're coming from Orlando you may want to take the Florida Turnpike which ends in Wildwood.
From Gainesville you should take either I-75 South to Wildwood or go West to Williston in Levy County. Turn South on State Road 41, which will take you through Dunnellon to Citrus County and Inverness.
Once in Inverness, finding Whispering Pines Park shouldn't be a problem. Through downtown Inverness S.R. 44 and S.R. 41 merge to form Main Street. The park is clearly visible from Main Street. At the S.E corner of the intersection of S.R.44 and C.R. 581 is ABC Liquor and on the S.W corner is Applebee's Grill. By car the park can be entered from Forest Drive only. The staging area is at the Picnic Pavilion. There's ample parking space and real rest rooms. There's also a big playground area for the youngest.
